Parasha Mishpatim & Sermon "Sign of the Times"

Shalom and Blessings

We are finally exiting from our third lockdown. The infection rate is still high, hovering in the thousands, but because of economic pressures and the fact that 4 million people have already been vaccinated, the government has lightened up on some restrictions. Ellen and I are still being cautious and continuing to conduct our lives as if we were not vaccinated.

Most of us are extremely cautious about what we eat. We carefully wash our fruits and vegetables before eating them; and if there is a food recall we check our refrigerators and pantries to find if we have a recalled item so as to discard or return it. Yet, still hundreds of people each year get sick and some die because of eating contaminated food in Israel. Today our world is filled with contaminated news reports. Social media is filled with falsehoods and fake news and we are bombarded on all sides by conflicting information with as many reports for, as there are against, on any given subject. We live in a world filled with immoral and unethical practices, therefore, as Believers in Messiah Yeshua we must be vigilant and guard ourselves from anything that would defile our thoughts, damage our testimonies and in any way hinder our relationship with God.

Hi Ellen here…Passover is soon approaching, but before it comes there's Purim. In fact, this weekend we enter the month of Adar, Friday evening, February 12th. Purim is a time of celebration, kids running through the streets wearing biblical costumes and face masks (which we all possess at this time, face masks that is), acknowledging the deliverance of the Jews from the hands of our enemies; reading the Megillah of Esther, giving donations of food to those less fortunate and so much more…but will we run through the streets singing and dancing this year? Only God knows in this time of uncertainty but we rejoice in our hearts because of all the wonderful works He does in us. Queen Esther prayed and fasted fervently for the deliverance of "her" people. Today we pray for the deliverance of "all" God's children. Please join with us and seek the Lord in all His might and splendor to deliver this world from the present torment…remember always to give thanks in all things and pray unceasingly but also rejoice…for this is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. Purim begins on Friday evening, February 25th…let us look forward to deliverance and breakthroughs.
